1. My house is situated in urban area, Barmer.
2. The annual rain fall of Barmer is 277mm.
3. My house is 60 feet long and 19 feet wide. The catchment area is
1140 Square feet or 106 Square meters.
4. The runoff coefficient is 0.8
5. Water potential per year is 23500 liters.
6. Daily consumption of water for family is 250 liters. Thus for 90 days Consumption of water is 22500 liters
7. Rainy season is for three months i.e. from 15 June to 15 September.
Thus for designing water source one month rain fall is considered
One month rain fall is =23500/3= 7833 Liters.
8. I have connected total roof area through 100mm diameter pipe.
9. This water is collected in 2.1mx2.1mx2.1m under ground tank.
10. The volume of tank is 9261 liters
In this way I have saved the water bill of 3 months, 25% of annual
Water cost. I have also designed rural water storage tanks, pond of
15 Lac capacities.
